The choice of one or the other of the search options below is really a function of your sense of urgency about filling the position.

Priority Contingency Search

A “Priority Contingency Search” literally becomes our top priority. The benefit to you is that you have our full and exclusive attention and experience has shown that this process results in hires faster than with the “Contingency Search” approach. For a “Priority Contingency Search” you provide us with a down payment of $10,000 to begin the search process. The down payment, which is subtracted from the final fee upon completion, essentially covers our initial cost to devote exclusive time and research to your project. By committing to a “Priority Contingency Search”, we are both acknowledging that, for you as well as for us, the search is a high priority. An additional advantage is that we can tell candidates the name of your company and that The Katonah Group has been “retained” on an exclusive basis to find your ideal candidate. The perception in the mind of the candidate is: "This must be a very important position with a first class organization and they are serious about filling it". A recent industry study has shown that 25% of top-level candidates lose interest after the initial contact, if the recruiter cannot give the name of the hiring company. When you hire a candidate from us on a “Priority Contingency Search” basis, w e will replace the candidate if he/she leaves the company within 90 days of the start date. Our standard fee for this service is 25% of the candidate’s first year’s contractual compensation.

Contingency Search

With a “Contingency Search”, clients pay The Katonah Group only when they hire one of our candidates. Unless the search is an exclusive one, other recruiters may be contacting the same candidates on your behalf and confusion will result. Important factors (in addition to the fee level) which any recruiter will take into consideration before investing time into contingency search include; the number of other recruiters working on the assignment, how long the search has been open, and the level of employer responsiveness. When you hire a candidate from us on a “Contingency” basis, we will replace the candidate if he/she leaves the company within 30 days of the start date. Our standard fee for this service is 30% of the candidate’s first year’s contractual compensation.
